What Big Changes are Made in the NT Syllabus ,Pattern, Section Process?
On 9th June, 2025, JKSSB Naib Tehsildar Recruitment was announced for 75 vacancies.
The Advertisement Notification has many changes related to Pattern , Syllabus and Scheme of Examination. Lets discuss here.
Inclusion of Computer / IT Section (18 Marks)
JKSSB has introduced Computer /IT section for the first time in the Naib Tehsildar Exam 2025. This section carries 18 Marks and it impacts the overall structure of the exam. It is pertinent to mention here, that in the 2018 NT Exam, no such section exists. This Section will definitely benefit those who have Degree / Diploma in Computer Applications.
Inclusion of Reasoning and Mental Ability (18 Marks)
In the previous Exam, JKSSB NT Syllabus has not Mensuration as a section, but in the 2025 Syllabus, there is addition of Reasoning and Mental Ability section carrying 18 marks. Though Mensuration is still there, but its weightage is reduced considerably and it is now a topic under Reasoning section.
New GK Topics Added and few Removed.
First the weightage of this sections is increased by 6 Marks. Now this section carries 36 Marks. New topics that made their way in this section are
- Environment
- Disaster Management
- Election Commission
- Human Rights
- J&K Reorganization Act-2019
- J&K Panchayati Raj Act (Amended upto 2020)
Few Topics that made their way out of the Syllabus are
- Globalization & Inflation
- Indus Water Treaty
- Land Reforms. etc.
- Constitution of J&K
Urdu remains Compulsory (Qualifying Only)
There were speculations that JKSSB might remove the Urdu from the Syllabus of JKSSB Naib Tehsildar exam, but this didn’t happen and for the current notification, you must have knowledge of Urdu to apply for NT posts.
- Weightage of Urdu Paper is changed from 120 to 50 Marks
- There are two parts in Urdu Paper
- Reading Section: 20 Marks
- Writing Section: 30 Marks
- Candidates have to pass both these sections independently by scoring 35% Marks in each of the sections and 40% in aggregate.
Those who failed to Qualify Urdu Paper, cannot proceed further.

No Interview for Naib Tehsildar in 2025
For the interest of candidates, JKSSB has decided to do away with Interview for Naib Tehsildar posts.
This step will ensure Transparency, as many candidates who score well in the Written Exam, often found themselves out of the Selection list, due to their non-performance in the Interview. J&K govt through a Notification in Feb, 2025 had decided to remove the Interview from the Selection Process of Naib Tehsildars in revenue department of J&K.
New Syllabus and Exam Pattern for Naib Tehsildar 2025 Exam
As per the Official Notification released by JKSSB here is Syllabus of 2025 Naib Tehsildar Exam.
- There will be 120 Questions, carrying 120 Marks. Each Question Carry 1 mark
- There will be negative marking with penalty of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
- Duration of Written Exam is 2 hours.
