250 Exclusive Jobs announced for Women in J&K Health Department

On 29th July, 2025, JKSSB has released Advt.07/2025 announcing 250 Female MPHW (Multipurpose Health Worker) vacancies in the Health & Medical Education Dept. of J&K. The Jammu & Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has invited applications for 250 Female Multi-Purpose Health Worker (FMPHW) posts under Advertisement No. 07 of 2025 This is part of a larger recruitment of 621 health-related positions (including Staff Nurse, Junior Pharmacist, etc.). The online application window opens on 5th August 2025 and closes on 3rd September 2025.

Eligible female candidates with required qualifications can apply only through the official website (jkssb.nic.in). The Female MPHW role is exclusive to women, and candidates must be domiciled in the Union Territory of J&K. The application process is entirely online, so prepare your documents (Domicile, 10+2 certificate, FMPHW diploma, age proof, etc.) in advance.

JKSSB Female MPHW : 250 Vacancies

The 250 Female MPHW posts are distributed across various districts and divisions of J&K (such as Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Poonch, Budgam, etc.) under the Family Welfare (MCH & Immunization) cadre.

It does not mean that If there are No vacancies in your District, you cannot apply. You can apply, because J&K government had already banned the “Inter-district” recruitment, which simply means, you can apply in any district in J&K, irrespective of your domicile district. Only condition here is “You must be a domicile of Jammu and Kashmir

Highlight: Jammu District with 39 vacancies and Kupwara with 25 vacancies has the highest share, While Ganderbal, Rajouri, Kishtwar has No vacancies, But that does not mean that candidates from these districts cannot apply, they can apply , but for other districts.

Eligibility Criteria for Female MPHW

To apply for the JKSSB Female MPHW posts, candidates must meet the following key criteria (details as per Advt 07/2025, JKSSB):

  • Domicile: Must be a domicile of Jammu & Kashmir (UT). Only J&K residents are eligible.
  • Gender: Only female candidates may apply for these posts.
  • Age Limit: Generally 18 – 40 years as on 01-01-2025 (upper age relaxations for reserved categories are applicable). For example, the maximum age is 40 for open merit, and up to 43 for SC/ST/RBA/ALC/IB/EWS etc.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognized board with Science subjects.
    • Diploma in Female MPHW (FMPHW) granted by the State Paramedical Board or any other recognized institution. This is crucial – without the FMPHW diploma, you are not eligible.

Important: Ensure you have the FMPHW diploma certificate before applying. In past JKSSB notices, duplicate, provisional, or awaiting results are not accepted. Also, keep your matric and diploma mark sheets ready for upload.

Job Profile of Female MPHW

A Female MPHW is the backbone of rural and urban healthcare systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Primary Healthcare: Immunization, maternal/childcare, family planning services.
  • Community Outreach: Health education, disease prevention campaigns, and nutrition programs.
  • Fieldwork: Conducting surveys, maintaining health records, and reporting outbreaks.

A travelling Job : FMPHWs often travel within villages or sub-centers, visiting mothers and children at home. They organise weekly or monthly health camps and ensure pregnant women attend check-ups at PHCs

Salary & Pay Scale

The Pay Matrix for Female MPHW posts is at Level-2 (7th CPC), which corresponds to a pay band of ₹19,900 – ₹63,200. Entry pay (basic pay) will be at the bottom of this scale (₹19,900) for a new recruit. In addition to basic pay, the selected candidates will receive other allowances as per J&K government rules, such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance, and any district-specific allowances.

The inhand Salary that a Female MPHW will get is Rs 32000 to Rs 34000.

Selection Process

JKSSB’s selection Process for the Female MPHW posts is primarily based on a written examination followed by document verification. The typical stages are:

  1. Written Test (OMR/CBT): An objective-type question paper (120 marks) covering nursing and general health subjects (detailed below). Applicants must score above the cut-off to be shortlisted. Separate cut-off lists will be made for different categories.
  2. Shortlisting: Based on the written exam marks and category-wise merit, a list of qualified candidates is prepared. This list is usually 3 times the number of vacancies. This is the Provisional List for Document Verification.
  3. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original certificates (educational, diploma, age, domicile, category certificate, etc.). Any candidate found ineligible is disqualified.
  4. Final Merit List: After DV, JKSSB prepares a final provisional selection list in merit order for each category/district. There is generally no interview for this post (as per previous JKSSB norms) – selection is purely on written exam merit.

JKSSB FMPHW Syllabus (Old Syllabus)

The written examination for Female MPHW is objective type (multiple choice questions), totaling 120 marks, to be completed in 2 hours 30 minutes. The test covers various nursing and community health subjects. The main sections and their marks are:

Total = 120 marks (120 questions). Questions will be in English. There is negative marking (usually 0.25 marks per wrong answer) for most JKSSB exams, so it is prudent to answer carefully.

  1. Registration: On or after 5th Aug 2025, visit jkssb.nic.in → Login → Apply for various Posts–> Enter your Login Details. Register with your name, email, and mobile number.
  2. Login & Fill Form: Use the registration credentials to log in. Fill in personal, educational, and preference details accurately.
  3. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies (as per specifications) of your photograph, signature, matric mark sheet, FMPHW diploma, domicile, category certificate (if any), etc.
  4. Pay Fee: Proceed to pay the application fee (₹600/) online.
  5. Submit & Print: Review the application preview carefully. Submit finally and take a printout of the application form and fee receipt.

Keep checking the JKSSB website or your email for any updates (admit card, exam date). Admit cards will be issued ~2 weeks before the exam.

Tip for Applicants: Ensure that you select the correct discipline (Female MPHW) and district while applying. Multiple applications will be rejected, and no changes are allowed after submission.
