It has been long 10 years that Naib Tehsildar posts were advertised. Last time, NT posts were advertised in 2015 and selection process got completed in 2020 only. These posts are long due but due to some administrative constraints NT posts are being delayed every time. But, finally we have some good news for you, There is every probability that Naib Tehsildar posts can be announced anytime in March-2025.

Credible sources say, that Naib Tehsildar posts have been identified by the revenue department and posts have been forwarded to JKSSB to advertisement. It is matter of few days to weeks before the official advertisement is out.

Big Update (Naib Tehsildar 75 Vacancies Announced)

On 9th June, 2025, JKSSB has announced the much awaited Recruitment Notification for 75 Naib Tehsildar Posts. With this announcement, the long wait for NT posts finally ends.

As per the Official Notification,

• Starting Date of Online Registration: 16th June, 2025
• Closing Date of Online Registration : 15th July, 2025

As per the Official Notification online, and also verified by credible reports, 75 Posts of Naib Tehsildars are expected to be announced any time for direct recruitment. Though the number is posts is quite low, but still these posts will give a ray of hope for lakhs of aspirants who missed the 2015 JKSSB Naib Tehsildar Recruitment

Total NT Posts : 75

Here is the Category-wise break up of Naib Tehsildar posts

• Open Merit: 30 Posts
• SC: 6 Posts
• ST-1: 8 Posts
• ST-2: 8 Posts
• OBC: 06 Posts
• EWS: 07 Posts
• ALC/IB: 03 Posts
• RBA: 07 Posts

The above break-up is as per the Provisions of New Reservation policy as introduced by the Central Government of India in March-2024.

Though Naib Tehsildar in revenue Department of J&K, is a Non-Gazatted posts but the Salary and Perks enjoyed by a Naib Tehsildar is no less than a Gazatted officer, beacause of Pay-Level that Naib Tehsildar enjoyes.

In simple words, a Newly appointed Naib Tehsildar will get Monthly Salary of Rs 62000 to 65000 Per Month.

This salary is the Gross Salary and does not include deductions.

The in hand Salary will usually be around Rs 54000 to Rs 55000 Per month.

Here is the break-up of JKSSB Naib Tehsildar Salary in 2025

• Pay Level and Baisc Pay: 6E (Rs 35900 – Rs,13,500)
• Grade Pay-Rs 4200/-
• Gross Salary: Rs 62000 to Rs 65000 Per Month
• In hand Salary: Rs 55000 Per Month

There is a lot of debate on Social Media and local circles, that there is a change in the Eligibility criteria for Naib Tehsildar posts. We have verified the information from various sources like Official Websites, and Revenue Department, and found that As on now, there is No Change in the Eligibility criteria.

The Qualification criteria for 2025 NT posts will be same as we have in NT 2015 Posts.

Here is the Domicile, Educational cum Age-Criteria for Upcoming Naib Tehsildar Recruitment.

Domicile :

Applicants willing to apply for Naib Tehsildar Posts must have their Domicile Certificate.  You’ll need a valid Domicile Certificate, issued by the Revenue Department of J&K using the official format, and it must be issued before the last date of submitting the online form.

Age-Criteria:

There is No bar on minimum age, but the maximum age should not exceed for Open Merit and In-Service Employees. For rest of the categories, there is a relaxation in Upper age limit as given in the table below.

Applicants willing to apply for JKSSB Naib Tehsildar Vacancy in Revenue Department, must full fill the below mentioned Qualification criteria.

1. You should need a Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
2. You should have working knowledge of Urdu Language.

Note:

1. Degree must be obtained before the cut off date of Online application.
2. Original Degree is to be produced before the Document Verification Committee in case you are shortlisted for Document Verification.
3. Your candidate shall remain provisional till the Verification of Original Documents.

The Selection process of Naib Tehsildar Recruitment comprises of

1. MCQ’s based Written test (120 Questions , 120 Marks)
2. Descriptive test (For Knowledge of Urdu) : Qualifying Only

• No Interview: There shall be No Interview for Naib Tehsildar Posts. It is on 14th Feb, 2025 General Administration Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, has issued an Order, cancelling Interview for All Level-6 Posts including the Naib Tehsildar.

There shall be a MCQ based written test for all the aspirants who apply for Naib Tehsildar Posts.

Written test will have Multiple Choice Questions from these Subjects

1. General English: 24 Marks
2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs: 36 Marks
3. General Knowledge with Special Reference to J&K: 24 Marks
4. Knowledge of Information Technology: 18 Marks
5. Mensuration, Mental Ability and Reasoning: 18 Marks

Note-1: There is a Penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer

Note-2: The Syllabus for JKSSB Naib Tehsildar posts will be announced only after the advertisement of posts.

Descriptive Test (50 Marks: Time: 01 Hour)

Only those candidates who qualify the Written Test (MCQ Exam) will be called for the Descriptive test ie. Test for Knowledge of Urdu.

Urdu test is Qualifying in nature only which means, you have to only score the minimum marks, set by the JKSSB. Marks obtained in the Urdu test will not be used for determining the Final Merit.

Yet, those candidates who failed to qualify the Urdu test cannot proceed further. So Qualifying Urdu test is a must to be in the Selection process.

Here is the Structure of Urdu Test

• Reading Section (20 Marks): Candidates are required to answer questions carrying One Mark each out of given passages.
• Writing Section (30 Marks)
  • Letter Writing: 10 Marks
  • Essay Writing: 10 Marks
  • Translation of Passage from English to Urdu and Vice-Versa: 10 Marks

The Final Merit for the Recruitment of Naib Tehsildar comprises of marks obtained in the Written test only.

But only those candidates who Qualify the Urdu test and rank higher in the Merit list, with proportion to the No. of vacancies, will be finally selected.

Selected Candidates will have to undergo Document Verification. Only after their Documents are verified, appointment letters will be issued.

In this case, First Lets do a comparison with previous Naib Tehsildar Exam held in 2018.

For the 2018 Exam, we have following Data.

• Number of Posts: 155
• No. of applicants appeared in the exam: 70000
• No. of applicants shortlisted : 860

And Cut Off (For Open Category) is 93.5

For 2025 NT Exam, we expect the following data

• Nunber of Vacancies: 75
• No. of applicants to appear in the exam: 1 Lakh+
• No. of applicants to be be Shortlisted: 375

And Expected Cut Off (For Open Category) for 2025 is 103 to 105

From the above data, you can see there is a Big increase in the the Cut off marks, thanks to ever growing completion for Government Jobs in J&K. Every Graduate, who falls with in the age limit and preparing for Government Exams like, KAS, Sub-Inspector, will definitely apply for this exam.

Moreover with Highest ever Unemployment Rate in J&K in 2025, this exam will see the record number of applicants applying for this exam, which will impact the Cut off.
