What is JKSSB Teacher Eligibility Criteria in 2025?

To Apply for Governemnt Teacher Posts in J&K, you must full fill these mandatory eligibility conditions.

• Residency: Applicant must be a Domicle of Jammu and Kashmir(As on the Closing Date of application)
• Age: Minimum age required is 18 years and maximum age should not exceed 40 years. However, for SC/ST, OBC/EWS /RBA, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, there is relaxation in Upper Age Limit.
• Educational Qualification: As there are three categories of Teacher Posts, so accordingly the Qualifications will differ
  • General Teacher: A Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Science/Maths Teacher: A Graduation degree with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, or Mathematics as one of the subjects in all years/semesters.
  • Urdu Teacher: A Graduation degree with Urdu as one of the subjects in all years/semesters.

Note: A teaching certificate or B.Ed. is not be required since SRO 508/2018 fixed only graduation as the minimum.) However, Preference points will be awarded to candidates with a B.Ed. or M.Ed. degree Or Having Other Higher qualifications.

It is highly recommended to have a B.Ed. degree to enhance your chances.

Selection Criteria

The Selection Criteria for the recruitment of Teachers in the School Education Department of J&K, comprises of Written test and Qualification Points. There shall be No Interview for teacher posts, as the J&K Govt. has do away with Viva-Voce from 2017 recruitment onwards.

Written Test (85 Points): JKSSB will conduct the written test which likely be an an OMR will carry the maximum weightage. This will be a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based exam with negative marking (usually 0.25 marks for each wrong answer).

Qualification (15 Points) : In the previous JKSSB Teacher recruitment, a significant number of points were allocated for higher educational and professional qualifications such as B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. This system ensures that well-qualified candidates are given due recognition. and there is every likelihood that similar criteria will be followed for 2025 exams too.
